Super Bowl Halftime Show

The 2020 Super Bowl game was on February 2nd at 5:30pm. Billions of people watched this game because this is the Kansas City Chiefs first appearance at the Super Bowl in 50 years. The majority of the country watches the Super Bowl for the actual game but some watch for the new commercials and the infamous halftime show. This year Jennifer Lopez and Shakira performed together and it was great.

They started the halftime show with some older songs of theirs. After performing “Jenny from the Block” Jennifer Lopez’s eleven year old daughter joined in with her children’s choir. According to USA Today, Emme Maribel Muniz stole the show after sweetly singing “Born In the USA”. There were so many tweets after the show saying how Emme is a better singer than her mom and I have to sort of agree. JLo just doesn’t work it like she used to but for her being 50 years old, she did really well. Shakira performed “Hips Don’t Lie” of course and everyone went crazy.

Before the two performed Jennifer Lopez posted a picture of herself and Shakira saying “So excited to share the stage with you tonight. Let’s show the world what two little latin girls can do.” According to Washington Post, “Before the game, the artists promised their performance would be a “message of unity” and a source of pride for Latinas, something both artists pointed out is particularly impactful in our current moment.” In many aspects they accomplished this throughout the entire show. It was very chaotic but they brought it together in the end in my opinion.

Both performers, plus Emme, did amazing. They were so strong and confident with what they were singing and it gave off better vibes than the game gave off.
