Demi Lovato found some memes funny about 21 Savage, but other people didn’t find that so funny.

The singer deactivated her Twitter account Sunday after she was criticized for tweeting, “So far 21 Savage memes have been my favorite part of the Super Bowl.” The rapper was the subject of conversation on social media after he was arrested in Atlanta early Sunday by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He is accused of being a UK citizen who entered the United States legally when he was a minor in July 2005, but he allegedly failed to leave under the terms of his nonimmigrant visa. Strangely enough, 21’s arrest was very random.

ICE knew about 21’s status in 2017 when he applied for a U-Visa. Until Sunday, ICE had no interaction with Savage. Ironically, 21 Savage’s move to become a legal resident may have caused the arrest, because USCIS investigates the application and does a background check, which apparently revealed he was born in the UK, came to the U.S. legally in 2005 with a visa, but it expired the next year and he has been here illegally ever since.
