On June 16, 2015, 23 year old Gypsy Blanchard walked into a Wisconsin courtroom in handcuffs, along with her boyfriend on trial for her mother Dee Dee Blanchard’s murder. She was found stabbed multiple times in their Missouri home. Who is to blame?

All Gypsy’s life she struggled, she was diagnosed with a laundry list of maladies, including muscular dystrophy, requiring the use of a wheelchair, leukemia, and seizure medication that made her teeth fall out, requiring doctors to implant a feeding tube. She had no friends, just her mother and by the second grade she was homeschooled due to her limited mental capacity. Dee and Gypsy seemingly had a perfect life together and had a admirable bond to family members and many who knew of Gypsy’s condition. Gypsy throughout her life had multiple surgeries along with dozens of medication Dee Dee had given her and if doctors refused she just changed hospitals and doctors. Meanwhile, Dee Dee was accepting financial donations for Gypsy’s medical care. They went on trips to Disney World sponsored by charitable organizations and lived in a house built by Habitat for Humanity. They were also given free airfare, and were on Tv on many different occasions talking about her being a cancer survivor. And it was all a lie.

In the recent time of her mothers death Gypsy joined a online dating site in secret and met Godejohn. They bonded over their love of Disney movies, and she would share Dee Dee’s controlling nature, such as locking her up and attaching bells to the doors so she could hear her if she tried to escape. Later Gypsy found her mother was also hiding her real age including changing her birth certificate. The day of Dee Dee’s murder they find Gypsy at Godejohn’s house across town perfectly fine and walking. They were immediately taken for questioning, Godejohn admits to killing her and tells police Gypsy asked him to kill her but she claims to know nothing of her mother’s death. Later on through the trial lawyers inform Gypsy she is not sick at all, she is almost completely healthy.

Gypsy’s mother tortured her daughter for years just to keep her daughter in her grip forever and for money i’m sure. Today, Gypsy and Godejohn sit in prison awaiting there sentence for the murder of Dee Dee Blanchard.
