Poaching has traditionally been defined as illegal hunting or capturing of wild animals, usually associated with land use rights. It’s more common to hunt rhinos but David Baloy had his eye out for tiger paws. He was hunting for a lion when he found himself in a lion’s territory. First they killed him, then they ate the body only leaving the head. The first responders said that they found a gun just feet away.

Just recently a dead lion was found without its paws and some of its organs were taken out.  The body was found in South Africa’s famous Kruger National Park. The bones of a lion had been used for medicines in Africa.  Just the skin can be sold for $30,000. In the past century, 3 types of lions have gone extinct: the Bali, Javan, and Caspian. Over 5,000 tigers have been captured in 2014. The lion bones are used for wine-the wine that helps to strengthen your bones. The boiled skeleton can be priced at $20,000.

Reporters still have not confirmed how long Baloyi has been poaching. “It seems the victim was poaching in the game park when he was attacked and killed by lions,” Moatshe Ngoepe, a park ranger who was on sight had said.

Dealing with lions can be very dangerous and could even end in your death, like Mr. Baloyi. He will be remembered and I sent prayers out to his family for their loss. Poaching is a wrong act, I agree with that but death should not be the punishment.
