The Super Bowl.

That name sounds like somewhere you would chow down on some Mexican food, chips and all. But sadly, no. This legendary Super Bowl is the National Football League’s championship game. However, it is the second-largest day for food consumption in the United States after Thanksgiving; and it is considered an unofficial American holiday, “Super Bowl Sunday.” A football game that consists of 22 football players being paid over ten million dollars apiece. This year, the New England Patriots will play against the Philadelphia Eagles. Tom Brady, the Patriots’ quarterback, makes 20.5 million just himself.

This year, the football game will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the U.S Bank Stadium. The maximum capacity of this stadium is 66,655 thousand with tickets ranging from three thousand to twenty thousand dollars. P!nk will open the game by singing the National Anthem, and Justin Timberlake will perform for the halftime show. And interestingly enough, according to People Music, Justin Timberlake and Tom Brady have a little bromance going on with Timberlake texting Brady, “I’m going to the Super Bowl, are you going to the Super Bowl?

A big part of the Super Bowl extravaganza are the commercials. For the Super Bowl XLIX in 2015, 114.4 million people were watching. Major companies like Budweiser, Coca-Cola, and Doritos promote their product by using celebrities in their commercials and emotional ploys like cute puppies. The going rate for a thirty second commercial is 4.5 million dollars.

Last year, the Patriots outscored the Atlanta Falcons 34-28. This year, will Tom Brady be able to withstand four more quarters of brutal football. Late in the season, Brady had to get stitches on his right hand, his throwing hand and it can be seen in the recent games that it is affecting him. Also the Patriots tight end, Rob Gronkowski had gotten a concussion but said he will be playing on February 4th. The Patriots will be entering the game with a team that’s not 100 percent healthy, and yet; the Eagles are still the underdog going into the game.
