At the end of the 2016 election, a tape called “Access Hollywood” was released. This 12 year old tape was of Donald Trump talking inappropriately and profanely about women with Billy Bush. According to the New York Times, “in the hours after it was revealed in October 2016, Mr. Trump acknowledged that the voice was his, and he apologized.” The tapes eventually died down until just now  as a few sources quoted in the NYT said he has been denying the accusations once again.

When the tapes first released, several women came out about different times when President Trump had sexually harassed them. Billy Bush said, “Recently I sat down and read an article dating from October of 2016; it was published days after my departure from NBC, a time when I wasn’t processing anything productively. In it, the author reviewed the various firsthand accounts about Mr. Trump that, at that point, had come from 20 women.” He says he believes them because it lines up with the crude things he said on the ¨Access Hollywood” tape that at the time all of the men with him thought were a joke.

Bush said that hearing about Trump denying these accusations again “hit a nerve.” After the “Access Hollywood” tape, Bush got fired from his job at NBC, but Trump got elected President. Bush also said how he feels for the women that spoke out about Trump. “I can only imagine how it has reopened the wounds of the women who came forward with their stories about him, and did not receive enough attention.”

On Monday night Bush appeared on Late Night with Stephen Colbert to talk about the topic. Bush stated that it was Trump’s voice on the tape, “That is your voice. I was there. You were there.” Colbert brought up the thought that this tape wouldn’t of been brought back into the light if Trump had not said anything. “It’s really the dumbest thing he could have done. He’s a dumb, dumb person.” Bush believes that “Enough is enough,” and Trump needs to stop talking about the tape.
